Retail Therapy: 2020 Score Football Blaster Box

Score Football is usually the first NFL product of the year to hit the shelves and almost always available before Training Camps begin. As we all know, 2020 is not your normal year. It took us until the weekend before the season starts to find it at retail. While it’s usually a base level product, the prices of boxes (both hobby and retail) had a dramatic rise on the secondary market right after the release.

The set features 440 cards, 110 of which are rookies. In addition to the larger than normal base card set, there are a lot of really cool insert sets in this product. You can also look for special Gold parallels of the Deep Dive, In The Zone and Next Level Stats sets that are exclusively found in blaster boxes.

The Score blaster boxes contains 11 packs with 12 cards in each. You can expect to find 33 Rookies, 22 Inserts and 5 Parallel cards per blaster box. Each box also has one retail exclusive 1st Score Relic Card. The box retails for $19.99.

Review: A-

Opening this year’s Score football is a really fun experience. It’s pretty crazy to see the stack of cards you get from your box (132 cards). With 3 rookie cards per pack, you get a good chunk of this year’s rookie class. We were able to get cards of Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, 2 Jalen Hurts (One from Oklahoma and one from Alabama), Chase Young, Henry Riggs III and DeAndre Swift. That’s pretty impressive for a non-draft product.

While we didn’t get a big value card, you can not really argue that getting 22 insert cards isn’t a fun break. The sheer volume of rookies, insert and parallels you get in each box makes this a really good time.

If you would like to open a blaster box, you can now find them in the $20-25 range on eBay. With the scarcity of NFL products right now and the high prices of almost everything that comes out, this seems like a pretty decent option to open 2020 NFL cards.
