Unboxed: 2020 Archives Snapshots

Topps released another Online Exclusive product this month in 2020 Archives Snapshots. The product was available on the Topps website for $25 a box, with a three box maximum.

Each box contains 1 pack of 12 cards. You will find one autograph, one Black and White parallel and a Walkout Wire card. There are also variations of each card that you can find.

The set contains a fun 50 card checklist that can be found on Topps website. The set is made up of rookies (led by Luis Robert, Gavin Lux, Bo Bichette and Yordan Álvarez), current stars (Mike Trout, Aaron Judge, Bryce Harper, Fernando Tatis Jr., Juan Soto and Mookie Betts), retired legends (Cal Ripken Jr., Mike Schmidt, Willie Mays and Nolan Ryan) and fan favorites (Jim Abbott, Tim Lincecum, Rubén Sierra, Jay Buhner and Barry Zito).

Here’s what we found in our three boxes:

Luis Arrâez Blue Border Autograph 45/50, Keston Hiura Walkoff Wires, Luis Robert RC, James Karinchak Black & White RC, Gavin Lux RC, Bryan Abreu RC, Dustin May RC, Juan Soto, Steve Rogers, Al Oliver, Mike Schmidt, Pete Alonso.

Grade: A+

It’s hard not to give a break an “A+” when you pull a card that is selling for twice the amount you paid for the boxes. The Robert Blue Border redemption is the biggest card we’ve pulled since we started Sport Cards Daily. We also pulled two Luis Robert rookies and a really cool Kyle Lewis Black & White rookie.

The one issue we found with our three boxes is there tends to be a lot of duplicate players. We pulled a Bryan Abreu rookie card (2 base and 1 Black & White) in each of our boxes. We also pulled doubles of Dustin May, Aristides Aquino, Juan Soto, Pete Alonso, Steve Rogers, Al Oliver and Willie Mays. That’s a pretty high number when you only get 11 cards per pack.

If you want to try your hand at a box, they are currently selling in the $45-55 range on eBay. They are a fun rip and the cards look fantastic. If you can find them closer to the original $25 price, I would highly recommend opening a box. However, the best value play at the current prices is to find the singles you want on eBay.
