Herbert had a 14-year big league career spent with the Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Athletics, Chicago White Sox and Philadelphia Phillies. He pitched in 407 games and won 104 during his career and was even the winning pitcher of the All-Star game in 1962 season (back when there were two games a year). 1962 was by far his best season, as he finished with 20 wins and a 3.27 ERA in 35 starts (236 and 2/3 innings).
