Retail Therapy: Topps Series 2 Baseball Blaster

We finally were able to find some new cards for Retail Therapy. We scored a blaster box of 2020 Topps Series 2 at our local Target. We’ve been looking for these since they were released back in late June. Like almost all products this year, Series 2 has been selling out as soon as it is stocked on retail shelves. It appears that with Topps Archives hitting retail stores, Series 2 has become a little more available.

Series 2 has a strong rookie class. You can find Luis Robert, Shogo Akiyama, Shun Yamaguchi, Kwang-Hyun Kim, Randy Dobnak and personal cheeseball Ryan McBroom. Robert is obviously the big draw in this product as he is probably the hottest name in the hobby right now. His cards are drawing tons of bids on eBay and bringing in big prices.

We got our Blaster Box from Target. The box was $19.99 for 7 packs and includes one bonus pack that features a Player Medallion card. Each pack has 14 cards and features one Turkey Red Insert. The Target Blasters also contain the Feranando Tatis Jr. Highlights Set, which is a really fun insert set.

We haven’t been able to find anything for Retail Therapy in almost two weeks. It was great to find this blaster and the results were even better. The Trout Player Medallion Card ($15 range) is selling right around the cost of the blaster and we pulled a ton of inserts and rookies that added even more value. While we didn’t hit a Luis Robert card, I was really happy with the rookie cards we got for Kwang-Hyun Kim, Ryan McBroom and getting a Rainbow Foil of a rookie card (Brock Burke) is always fun too. As we mentioned in our Series 1 Retail Therapy the Turkey Red inserts look great and we’ll be picking up the cards we need to finish our set.

I would definitely not hesitate to pick up more of these if we are able to find them in stores. With the variety of inserts and the Target exclusive Tatís Jr. Highlights set, there are plenty of cards to make cracking open multiple boxes a fun proposition. They are fun rip and you get a ton of cards for your $20.
